Ledbury
Leave it to stylish Southern boys who read English.
“After years in London we acquired a healthy addiction for the tailoring of Savile Row and the shirting of Jermyn Street. On our trips back to the States we were always frustrated by the lack of offerings in menswear. Big name men’s retailers created formless and baggy clothes and high fashion brands charged exorbitant prices. It seemed like there was a real need for a brand that offered European quality, English fit and American style; all at an attainable price. The idea became somewhat of an obsession…leading to some sleepless nights, some bizarre early designs and a back of the envelope business plan…the idea was shelved…Then,…the economy headed south…There was obviously a little panic, but also an opportunity…For the better part of a year, nights were spent sleeping on friends’ couches (forever indebted)…And after a couple of late nights naively romanticizing entrepreneurship we pulled together our heavily depleted finances and launched the business. In those early days, without a workspace, we would meet in the back of a pub on Ledbury Road…where we slowly pieced together what you see today.”

Insight
The first holiday gift I received this year was a brass-studded scarf by Insight. I am in love with it. It keeps me warm, and I wear it all the time.

“[W]hat made me understand fashion-it wasn’t the first time I knew I loved it, but it was a tiny epiphany because I finally felt like I ‘got’ that clothes can have emotional impact. Before I didn’t understand how they could be very powerful. It sounds lame but it was one of those ‘moments[.]’”

Yes, she’s hyped. Yes, she does bring a new voice, perspective, and great style with her. To be fair to the “on-the-fence” or “I-am-uncomfortable-with-liking-her” faction:

But was anyone uncomfortable when they listened to Mozart while he was in his single digits and teens? Am I saying that Tavi is to fashion as Mozart is to music? Of course not, or at least not yet. Give me a few months to make such a brave statement.
